Mix It Up

Shop This Look
Top: Dynamite// Skirt: Urban behavior// Jacket: H&M// Men's Wristwatch: Avon// Clutch: Dollarama// Shoes: Shoedazzle

Total Cost: Approx. $90

I wore this to church yesterday. Recently, I'm being drawn towards neutral colors like nude and black a lot even though Spring is all about bright colors! This outfit is actually quite interesting. I needed a nude top, but I don't have one, so I wore this top backwards. Also, this skirt is actually about 2 sizes bigger than me, so I used a brooch to pin it at the left side. These shoes actually run half a size small, but it was sold out in my size (9) and other larger sizes and I wanted them so much. Can you believe I went ahead and got them in 8.5? To make myself feel better, I got the purple color in my size, which is true to size, thankfully. Interesting right?

Anyway, it looks like here in Windsor, we're having a very nice Winter this Spring! Sigh. The weather is so pathetic right now, but I'm gradually getting into the Spring spirit. What is the weather like where you are now.  Have a lovely week!

HOW TO DRESS AN HOURGLASS SHAPE

Hey guys, What's up? Hope you're all doing great!

Hourglass ladies, it's your turn today! Let me remind you of some of your features!
  1. When you gain weight it is evenly distributed all over your body
  2. You have full bust, things and bum.
  3. You have a small, well defined waist
Hourglass!!!

So here's how to flatter your body shape!

  1. Go with 'V'-neck tops/dresses to accentuate your bust
  2. Don't over-do ruffles, bows or any other frills. This will draw to much attention to that part of your body and it will destroy your naturally balanced body.
  3. Stick to classic cuts.
  4. Just like the pear-shape, wrap tops and tops with belts or tops banded at your waist area are good ways to show of your fabulous figure!
  5. Try as much as possible to wear sheer and soft fabrics. This means that you should try to avoid bulky fabrics.
  6. Avoid high necklines for example: turtle neck. This will make your bust appear way bigger.
  7. Wear dresses that are very well fitted around the bust, hips and your behind! This will accentuate your figure very well.
  8. Your jackets should be well fitted and tailored and any length will flatter your figure.
  9. For trousers, go for wide-legged and loose-fitting trousers.
  10. Don't wear skirts that end or stop at the thickest part of your calves or thighs. It will make that part of your body wider.
  11. Wear jeans that have a small-cut waist. OH! and feel free to wear skinny jeans. You are proportioned to handle it very well.
  12. Maintain balance on both your upper and lower body if you want to keep to your body shape.
  13. Wear high-waisted pants and skirts a lot to show off your legs, hips and bum.
  14. Also, go with boot-cut, cargos and straight leg pants
  15. For colors, you'll do just fine with solid colors. You can also do prints just make sure they're not too heavy in you! You should also do vertical lines to make you look slimmer and taller.

Those are the basics. But, the best part is, you can be flexible! Try out different things and see what works best for your own unique type of hourglass shape!

Enjoy the rest of your week guys!!

Stay blessed. :)

WHAT TYPE OF BODY SHAPE DO YOU HAVE?

Hello lovelies,

I will be discussing the different types of female body shapes. I'm sure at least once you've come across a situation where you and a friend got an outfit that is either the same or very similar but it looks very good on one of you but not so much on the other person. This is because as girls, we are built very beautifully and we have very unique features individually that make us stand out. What may look very good on me, may look bad on you. So it's very important to know your body type to make sure you're always looking good.

I'm going to name the different body types and their characteristics so that you can identify what category you belong to and follow up on the posts.

NOTE: There are slimmer and fuller versions of the shapes. :)

1. Pear body shape: This is the category I belong to. If your lower body measurements are generally bigger/wider than the top you have a pear-body shape. Generally, you have a slimmer upper body half, you have a clearly defined waist and full thighs. Your shoulders are narrow. From your waist downwards, your body grows wider. When you gain weight, it's mostly visible and distributed in your thighs, hips and bottom. You also gain weight quickly in these areas before gaining on your stomach or arms. For clothing sizes, you wear a smaller size on your upper half and a bigger size for the bottom half.

2. Hour glass shape: Your body shape is basically like an hourglass, hence, the name. The measurements of your bust and hips are the same or almost the same. You have a well defined short waist. When you gain weight, it is evenly distributed all over your body. your shoulders are in line with your hips.

3. Oval/Apple Shape: Your body frame is generally heavy. You have a prominent, low stomach and this is where you will most likely gain most weight. Your have sloped shoulders, you also have chunky thighs, wide hips and large bust.

4. Rectangle Shape: You have slight curves and your waist is not clearly defined. You may have small to medium sized bust. When you gain weight, it will be distributed mainly around your waist (not stomach) first.

5. Inverted Triangle/Wedge shape: Your shoulders are wider than your hips and you may have a flat bottom, narrow hips and an athletic body with a full chest. When you gain weight, it normally would be noticed in your arms and chest.

These are the main and distinct shapes. Some people fall in between so, don't worry if you think you didn't find your category. Here's a picture with some of the shapes side by side so that you can compare.

If you are still not sure or you have any questions, please post them in the comments section below and I'll be more than happy to help you out as much as I can.

Remember there is no 'ideal' body shape. So don't feel bad about your body. Just try to embrace it and do your best to dress it up nicely. OK?

Have fun figuring it all out. You can ask a friend to help you out with the measurements so that you're certain.

Thanks for your time and have fun!!! :)
